After working for several years in other window and siding companies, Marty decided to start his own business based on using only professional sales methods and quality products and installation at an affordable price. His philosophy in business is: a company can only be successful if their customers are completely satisfied. This has been and continues to be the driving motivation of the company.
Over the years we have worked to fine tune our operations, trying to streamline and keep our overhead costs as low as possible so that we can continue to offer our customers quality products at an affordable price. It is also important to us to keep up to date on the latest products and installation methods so we can help our customers make their homes more energy efficient and comfortable for years to come.
Looking ahead, our goal is to continue to grow Affordable Home Remodeling as a leader in exterior remodeling and energy efficiency. We will continue to keep ourselves informed by staying connected to our trade organizations and as members of the Energy Trust of Oregon. Most importantly, providing our customers with quality products, high standards of service, at an affordable price will continue to be our main goal.
Marty Smit has been in various sales positions since 1986 including real estate, home improvement, siding, and windows. As a sales manager for a large siding and window company, Marty decided to start his own remodeling company with his wife, Jackie, in 1994. Affordable Home Remodeling has been operating under the same CCB license number since then. While that may not seem like an important point on the surface, it’s important for you to know that many dishonest or inferior companies who receive lots of complaints will simply shut down their business and start a new one with a fresh CCB license number so that unsuspecting consumers won’t find out about their shoddy past.
Marty considers it important to remain a professional in the industry. He earned his Certified Remodeling Specialist designation in 2001. With annual continuing education being of high priority, Marty attends classes and seminars to keep up-to-date on the most recent trends in his field. He has most recently earned his Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification as a building analyst/building shell specialist in 2010.
Jackie Arcouette-Smit attended the University of Portland, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BBA in Management in 1995. After graduating she joined her husband Marty full time at Affordable Home Remodeling as Co-Owner and CFO. Since then she has been seeing to the day-to-day operations of the company, helping to keep the business running smoothly. Throughout the years, Jackie has attended many classes, seminars, and trade meetings to learn more about the remodeling industry and stay informed on the latest trends.
Shayna Smit attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. She pursued a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with a major in Business Management and a minor in Spanish. After completing her degree in three years, Shayna graduated in the summer of 2007 and returned home to Oregon. She started working for Affordable Home Remodeling and continues to work as the Office Manager. Shayna has also attended classes and meetings to learn more about the exterior remodeling industry. She continues to integrate her skills as Office Manager, as well as learning all aspects of the company’s operations.
